Women's Cross Country Competes at Fort Dodge Invite
Ballard Scores 435 Team Points
The Ballard women's cross country team put together a solid showing Thursday evening at the Fort Dodge Invitational, placing 16th in a highly competitive 25-team field that featured many of the state's top programs.
Freshman Avilee Miller led the way for the Bombers, clocking a time of 19:56.2 to finish 44th overall. Fellow freshman Honor Jorgensen followed close behind with a 20:15.2 effort, while sophomore Raya Miller crossed in 20:48.8, giving Ballard a strong top three.
Rounding out the varsity lineup were Grace Grundmeyer (21:59.7), Nora Showman (22:10.5), Sydney Sage (22:29.7), and Kya Hermann (22:50.8).
Waukee Northwest claimed the team title with 57 points, edging out Ankeny Centennial and Dallas Center-Grimes.
The Bombers will be back in action on Monday, October 13, competing at the Raccoon River Conference Meet, hosted by Bondurant-Farrar. Races begin at 4:00 PM.
