Bombers Finish Runner-Up At Lynx Invite
Ballard Scores 35 Team Points
The women's cross country team finished second in the season opener at Webster City on Monday afternoon. The Bombers would score 35 team points. Gilbert won the meet scoring 29 team points.
Annika Larson finished 3rd overall running in a time of 20:28.66 and the Bombers had four runners in the Top 10.
Comments From Head Coach Scott Barth:
"The girls ran a solid race finishing 2nd to a very deep and well-trained Gilbert squad. Our top 4 girls all placed in the top 10 to get us off to a good start but Gilbert edged us out on #5 to seal their championship. It was nice getting this race under our belts as it showed us what we are up against and what we need to be doing to put ourselves in a position to improve over the course of the season. As you can see, we currently have a good core for our 1-4 runners and there are 4-5 other runners currently in contention for the remaining 3 varsity spots. I can see a lot of potential in that chase group and with development, could improve a lot over the course of the season. If we can do that, we will compete at a very high level and make a run at things."
The Bombers are back in action on Tuesday - September 5 when they compete at the Winterset Invitational Meet. The meet will feature the middle school, junior varsity, and varsity and will start at 4:15 PM.
