The Ballard women's wrestling team faced a challenging day at the Pleasantville Tournament, finishing with a 1-2 record in dual competition.  Despite the tough matchups, the Bombers showed resilience and determination on the mat as they battled against strong opponents, including Albia, Cardinal, Creston, and Gilbert.

In their opening dual against Albia, the Bombers struggled to find momentum, falling 58-6.  Evelyn Faubus secured the lone victory for Ballard, pinning Sydney Ballard in 3:12 at 125 pounds.  Ballard also had a competitive match at 130 pounds, where Liberty Boettger narrowly lost by decision, 7-3, to Maddyn Sohn of Albia.

The Bombers rebounded in their second dual, defeating Cardinal 36-18.  Ballard's lineup was dominant, with Amelia Faubus earning a first-period pin at 105 pounds and Evelyn Faubus adding another pin at 125 pounds.  Esther Wilson, Liberty Boettger, Afton Holmes, and Sadie Ruby also recorded victories, all by fall, helping the Bombers secure a commanding team win.

Against Creston, Ballard faced another tough challenge, losing 36-18. Amelia Faubus and Sadie Ruby both secured falls to earn points for the Bombers, and Liberty Boettger added a forfeit victory at 130 pounds.  Despite their efforts, Ballard was unable to overcome Creston's depth.

The Bombers wrapped up the tournament with a dual against Gilbert, where they fell 54-9.  Evelyn Faubus continued her impressive day, defeating Cecilia Bowers by decision, 9-3, at 125 pounds.  Sadie Ruby added another victory for Ballard, pinning Lizzie Mitchell in 3:34 at 155 pounds. However, forfeits and strong performances by Gilbert wrestlers ultimately led to the Bombers' defeat.

They will look to regroup and refine their skills as they prepare for the Super Regional tournament on Friday, January 31, at Colfax-Mingo.  The action begins at 4:00 PM, and the Bombers will aim to make their mark as they compete for a spot in the state tournament.
