Bombers Compete In Saydel Tournament
Ballard Scores 16 Team Points
The Ballard women's wrestling team competed at the Saydel Girls Invitational on Monday, showcasing grit and determination against tough competition. Ballard finished 16th overall with 16 team points, largely thanks to the strong performance of sophomore Amelia Faubus at 105 pounds.
Faubus secured a third-place finish, earning critical points for the Bombers. After receiving a bye in the opening round, she pinned Ella Carico of Panorama in 4:51 during the quarterfinals. Although she fell to Mercedes Ponce of Perry in the semifinals via a 10-3 decision, Faubus bounced back in the third-place match, dominating Kambry Gordon of Clarinda with a 12-3 major decision.
Other Ballard wrestlers, including Esther Wilson (125), Evelyn Faubus (130), Liberty Boettger (135), Afton Holmes (140), and Sadie Ruby (145), gained valuable experience despite challenging brackets.
The Bombers now turn their attention to the Clarinda Tournament on Saturday, January 4, where they will look to build on their efforts and continue improving.
