Bombers Compete In Kickoff Tournament

The Ballard women's wrestling team competed at the Central Iowa Kickoff Tournament in Nevada on Saturday. Despite a small roster, the team delivered notable performances against tough competition.
At 105 lbs, Amelia Faubus demonstrated resilience with a 5-2 record. Highlights of her day included a commanding technical fall victory over Natalie Waltz of Panorama (15-0) and a hard-fought 9-7 decision over Eden Geddings of Algona, eventually placing in the consolation bracket.Her sister, Evelyn Faubus, excelled in the 135 lbs weight class with a 6-1 record, contributing 5 team points. Evelyn rebounded from an early loss with decisive wins, including a fall over Kenna Spencer of Moravia and a major decision over Emma Allie of Clear Lake (21-8) in the consolation finals.
Liberty Boettger, competing at 140 lbs, added 2.5 points to the Bombers' total with a 3-3 record. Boettger secured an impressive technical fall win (16-1) over Andie Branson of Knoxville before exiting the tournament in the consolation rounds. Esther Wilson (125 lbs) faced a challenging bracket but gained valuable experience as she continues to develop.
As a team, the Bombers placed 28th out of 31 teams, scoring 11 points in a field led by Raccoon River-Northwest (295 points), Southeast Polk (260.5), and Ankeny (209.5).
The tournament provided the Bombers with valuable experience and highlighted their potential for growth. The team will look to build on their performance as they head to the Woodward-Granger Tournament on Friday, December 6, with matches beginning at 4:00 PM.
