The Ballard women's wrestling team opened its season with the Ballard Tournament, hosting fierce competition. Despite a challenging day on the mat, the Bombers showed resilience and determination in their matches.
Match #1: Iowa Falls-Alden 31, Ballard 30
The Bombers started the day with a narrow loss to Iowa Falls-Alden, decided by tie-breaker criteria after both teams finished with 30 points. Ballard's standout performances included pins by Amelia Faubus (110), Evelyn Faubus (135), and forfeits won by Ellie Methum (125), Liberty Boettger (140), and Afton Holmes (145).
Match #2: Southeast Polk 64, Ballard 18
In the consolation semifinal, Ballard faced a tough Southeast Polk squad. Amelia Faubus (105) and Evelyn Faubus (135) continued to shine, securing falls in under a minute, while Afton Holmes (145) earned another win via forfeit.
Match #3: Winterset 42, Ballard 18
The day concluded with the 7th-place match against Winterset. The Bombers found success with pins by Amelia Faubus (105), Evelyn Faubus (135), and Liberty Boettger (145).
