Bomber's Strong Season Ends in Regional Final
#6 Norwalk Defeats #14 Ballard 3-0
Norwalk, IA -- The Ballard volleyball team's postseason run came to an end Tuesday night as the #14 Bombers fell to a tough #6 Norwalk squad in straight sets 25 to 19, 25 to 20, and 25 to 16 in the Class 4A Regional Final.
Despite the loss, the Bombers finished a memorable season with a 26 and 11 overall record and an undefeated 8 and 0 mark in Raccoon River Conference play. The Bombers battled throughout the match and showed the effort and teamwork that defined their year.
Senior Brenna Baumgardner led Ballard offensively with eight kills on 21 attempts, hitting .238. Norah Mudd added five kills and Emersyn Engstler chipped in four. Setter Hailey Estrem handed out 17 assists, while Halle Gardner anchored the defense with 10 digs.
At the net, Mudd and Harley Askelsen each recorded three blocks to help slow Norwalk's attack. From the service line, Addison Hosteng and Baumgardner each delivered an ace, and the team served an impressive 94.4 percent as a group.
Final Record: 26–11 overall, 8–0 Raccoon River Conference champions.
