Bombers Dominate at the Net in Road Win Over Tigers
#11 Ballard Defeats Gilbert 3-0
The Ballard volleyball team continued its dominant run through the Raccoon River Conference with a commanding sweep over Gilbert on Tuesday night, winning 25-17, 25-12, 25-19. The victory keeps the Bombers unbeaten in conference play at 7-0 and improves their overall record to 21-8.
The Bombers controlled the match from start to finish with a balanced offensive attack and steady defensive play. Senior Brenna Baumgardner led the Bombers with 13 kills and an impressive .571 hitting efficiency, while sophomore Kendall Ersland added 8 kills on .583 efficiency. Junior setter Hailey Estrem orchestrated the offense with 29 assists, efficiently spreading the ball around to keep Gilbert off balance.
Defensively, junior Halle Gardner anchored the back row with 19 digs, while Baumgardner also made her presence felt at the net with four blocks. The Bombers' serving game remained sharp as well, tallying six aces and a 95.9% serving efficiency. Senior Ashley Kinter led the team from the service line with three aces on a perfect 23-for-23 serving night.
With the regular season nearing its close, Ballard will look to cap off an undefeated conference season on Thursday, October 16, when they host Bondurant-Farrar in their conference finale and Senior Night at 5:30 PM.
