Women’s Track Team Shines at Home Meet
Ballard Scores 120 Team Points
HUXLEY — The Ballard women's track and field team delivered a dominant performance on their home turf Thursday night, capturing the team title at the annual Bomber Relays with a final score of 120 points. Waverly-Shell Rock (111) and Roland-Story (101) rounded out the top three in a highly competitive field of eight schools.
The Bombers showed their strength across the board, combining sprint talent, middle-distance depth, and relay cohesion to edge out the field.
Freshman Emefa VanLoo got things rolling with a second-place finish in the 100m dash (13.38), closely followed by fellow freshman Taylor Larsen in fourth (13.84). Ballard made its biggest impact in the distance events, where senior Annika Larson dominated. She cruised to victories in both the 1500m (4:59.41, season best) and 3000m (10:40.60, personal best), earning 20 points individually and leading by example.
Larson also teamed up with Jada Lande, Taylor Sample, and Ava Richardson to secure second in the distance medley (4:35.65), just behind Roland-Story. Richardson, another senior standout, had a huge night—taking the title in the 800m (2:34.31), placing second in the 400m (1:05.25), and anchoring both the runner-up 4x400m and champion 4x800m relays.
The Bombers' 4x800m squad—Richardson, Brynn Wilson, Kya Hermann, and Raya Miller—posted a season-best 10:30.87, holding off a late surge from Roland-Story.
Ballard edged Waverly-Shell Rock by nine points in the final team standings, a testament to the Bombers' consistency and depth.
The team now turns its attention to its next meet at PCM on Monday, April 28 at 4:30 PM.
