Bombers Advance to Regional Finals with Win
Ballard Defeats Knoxville 5-1
The Ballard women's tennis team powered its way into the regional finals with a decisive 5–1 victory over Knoxville in Wednesday's regional semifinal matchup. With postseason competition decided by the first team to five wins, the Bombers wasted no time securing their place in Saturday's championship round.
Ballard's top singles player, Addy Agena, set the tone with a thrilling three-set battle against Knoxville's Bridgette Liston. After dropping the first set 5–7, Agena rallied to win a tiebreaker in the second set and closed out the match with a 10–8 victory in the super tiebreak.
At No. 2 singles, Zoe Wilson was dominant, rolling to a 6–4, 6–0 win over Addy Dunkin. Anja Tjernagel fought hard at No. 3 but came up short, falling 6–3, 6–2 to Jordyn Counts for Knoxville's lone victory of the day.
The Bombers clinched the dual with clutch performances down the lineup. Siene Roush battled through another three-set thriller, topping Ashlynne Marvelli 6–7 (5–7), 6–3, 10–8. Reagan Remsburg followed with a steady 6–4, 6–3 win at No. 5, and Josie Oldenkamp sealed the deal with a 6–3, 2–6, 10–6 victory at No. 6 singles.
With the win, the Bombers improve to 10–5 overall and advance to the regional team finals at Pella on Saturday, September 27, at 10:00 AM.
