Women’s Tennis Dominates Panthers in Regional Opener
Ballard Defeats Creston 5-0
The Ballard women's tennis team left no doubt in their postseason opener on Saturday, sweeping Creston 5-0 to advance in regional play. Hosting the regional on their home courts, the Bombers secured the victory by winning the first five singles matches, clinching the team win under the postseason's "first to five" format.
At the top of the lineup, Addy Agena set the tone with a strong 6-4, 6-3 victory over Creston's Kennedy Strider. Zoe Wilson followed with a gritty performance, holding off Marlee Stalker in straight sets, 7-5, 4-3. Anja Tjernagel delivered another decisive point for Ballard, winning 6-1, 6-4 against Shaylee Coen.
Ballard continued to dominate as Siene Roush cruised past Brooke Huck, 6-0, 6-1, and Reagan Remsburg closed out the team win with a hard-fought 6-1, 7-5 victory over Savannah Jaques. Although the match was clinched at 5-0, Josie Oldenkamp also earned a straight-set win over Ali Gordy, 6-4, 6-3, to complete the sweep.
With the victory, Ballard moves on to face the winner of Knoxville and Centerville in the next round of regional play.
The Bombers will once again have home-court advantage, hosting the matchup on Wednesday, September 24, at 1:00 PM.
