Clutch Doubles Play Lifts Bombers
Ballard Defeats Kuemper Catholic 5-4
HUXLEY – The Ballard Bomber women's tennis team defended their home courts Monday evening, pulling out a hard-fought 5-4 victory over Kuemper Catholic.
After dropping the top three singles matches, Ballard needed a spark, and they found it in the middle of their lineup. Siene Roush picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles, followed by Reagan Remsburg's 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 5. Josie Oldenkamp then evened the score with a dominant 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.
With the match tied 3-3 after singles play, the Bombers relied on doubles to finish the job. At the No. 1 spot, Addy Agena and Zoe Wilson bounced back from singles losses with a strong 7-5, 6-1 win. The decisive point came at No. 3 doubles, where Anja Tjernagel and Kenna Zimmerman delivered a 6-3, 6-2 victory to clinch the team win.
Though Ballard dropped a close battle at No. 2 doubles, the Bombers' resilience in key moments proved the difference.
With the victory, Ballard improves to 5-3 on the season.
Up Next: The Bombers travel to Pella on Wednesday, August 27, for a 4:15 PM matchup.
