Women's Soccer Splits Conference Games
Defeats Winterset; Falls To Carlisle
The Ballard women's soccer team hosted Raccoon River Conference (RRC) opponent Winterset on Monday night, coming away with an exciting 2-1 victory.
Amelia Faubus got the Bombers on the board with a crucial goal. Freshman Maci Harder added a key insurance goal, giving Ballard the edge they needed to hold off a determined Winterset squad. Grace Grundmeyer also contributed offensively, picking up an assist in the win.
On the defensive end, sophomore goalkeeper Evelyn Faubus anchored the team, recording four saves while allowing just one goal, finishing the night with an 80% save percentage. The Bombers' team effort was evident throughout the match, as they fired 19 shots, including 12 shots on goal.
Riding the momentum from Monday's victory, Ballard traveled to face another RRC opponent, Carlisle, on Friday. However, the Bombers ran into a tough Wildcat squad and fell 4-0 on the road.
Ballard's current record stands at 2-6-1 overall and 2-2-1 in conference play as they approach the final stretch of the regular season.
Up next, the Bombers return home Tuesday, April 29, to host Panorama. The varsity game is scheduled for a 5:30 PM kickoff, followed by the junior varsity matchup.
