Bombers Find Their Offensive Spark
Ballard Ties Boone; Defeats Carroll
The Ballard women's soccer team showed grit and growth in a busy week of Raccoon River Conference action, earning their first point of the season in a thrilling draw at Boone and following it up with their first victory, a dominant 6-2 win over Carroll.
Wednesday at Boone:
The Bombers battled back from a 2-0 halftime deficit in dramatic fashion, exploding for five second-half goals to secure a 5-5 tie with the Toreadors. Freshman Maci Harder led the offensive surge with a hat trick, while senior Amelia Faubus and junior Addison Uselding each added a goal to help fuel the comeback.
Thursday vs Carroll:
Ballard carried the momentum into Thursday's home matchup with Carroll, putting together their most complete game of the season. The Bombers struck early and often, building a 4-1 lead by halftime and cruising to a 6-2 win. Amelia Faubus was unstoppable, recording a hat trick and notching her first penalty kick goal of the season. Grace Grundmeyer added two goals, while Anais Goullianne chipped in with one to round out the scoring. The offense fired 44 shots in total, showcasing their growing confidence and attacking mindset.
Now sitting at 0-5-1 overall and 0-1-1 in RRC play, the Bombers are trending upward and finding their rhythm as the season heats up.
Up Next: Ballard will return to action on Monday, April 21, as they host Winterset in another key Raccoon River Conference matchup. Kickoff is set for 5:30 PM.
