Bombers Shine on Day #1 of State Tournament
In 10th Place With 26 Team Points
The Ballard men's wrestling team put together a strong performance on Day #1 of the Class 2A State Tournament, securing key wins and advancing multiple wrestlers to the next round of competition. The Bombers currently sit in 10th place in the team standings with 26 points, with several athletes still in the hunt for podium finishes.
Individual Results:

120 lb – Easton Enyeart (33-3)
Enyeart received a bye in the opening round and dominated his second match, securing a 15-0 technical fall victory over Centerville's Matt Genobana. -
138 lb – Jacob Harrison (40-7)
Harrison impressed with a tech fall (19-3) victory over PCM Monroe's Zach Richards in the first round. He followed that up with a hard-fought 8-5 decision over Decorah's Will Larson to move on. -
150 lb – Jayden Leland (20-16)
Leland faced a tough opening match, falling by tech fall (17-1) to Clear Lake's Aiden Hippen. He received a bye in the consolation round and will look to battle back on Day #2. -
165 lb – Tucker Vitzthum (38-4)
Vitzthum showcased his offensive skills with a 19-3 tech fall win over Sheldon/South O'Brien's Mitchel Fischer after receiving a bye in the first round. -
190 lb – Rhett Hedrick (36-4)
Hedrick powered his way through his second-round match, securing an 18-3 tech fall victory over Centerville's Brian Snyder after a first-round bye. -
215 lb – Jackson Wacha (30-7)
Wacha started strong, pinning Webster City's Cody Elliott in 3:38. In the second round, he fell to North Polk's Henry Christensen by major decision (16-4) but remains in contention.
Up Next:
The Bombers will return to action for Day 2 of the State Tournament on Thursday, February 20, at 6:00 PM. With several wrestlers still competing in the championship and consolation brackets, Ballard remains in the mix for a strong team finish.
