Women’s Bowling Falls Short Against Dutch
Pella Defeats Ballard 2128-2009
The Ballard women's varsity bowling team faced a tough challenge on Thursday, competing against Pella at Cardinal Lanes in Newton. Despite a valiant effort, the Bombers fell to the Dutch, 2128-2009, in total pins. The loss brings Ballard's record to 5-1 on the season, matching their conference record.
Pella senior Xavia Walker led all bowlers with an impressive 379 series, including a standout high game of 234. She was followed by freshman teammate Aurora Rankin, who rolled a 328 series with a 179 high game. Ballard's top performer, freshman Kendall Ersland, wasn't far behind with a strong 327 series and a high game of 167, earning her third place in both categories. Senior Piper Thompson contributed a solid 288 series with a 160 high game, while McKenna Salvador of Pella rounded out the top five with a 279 series.
"Although we didn't come out on top, I'm proud of the way our team bowled today," said Ballard coach Corey Vespestad. "We're continuing to grow and improve, and matches like this help us learn how to compete against strong opponents."
The Bombers will look to bounce back on Friday, January 17, when they host Greene County in a non-conference matchup.
