Bombers Erupt Early, Cruise Past Cubs
Ballard Defeats Nevada 57-10
The Ballard women's basketball team delivered a dominant performance Saturday afternoon in the Hangar, rolling past Nevada 57–10.
Ballard set the tone immediately, exploding to an 18–1 first-quarter lead behind aggressive defense and balanced scoring. The Bombers continued to apply pressure in the second quarter, outscoring Nevada 18–3 to take a commanding 36–4 advantage into halftime. Ballard maintained control throughout the second half, adding a 15–3 third quarter before closing the game with a 6–3 fourth.
The Bombers' defensive effort was the story of the night, holding Nevada to single digits in all four quarters while forcing turnovers and limiting clean looks at the basket. Ballard finished with 17 steals and allowed just four made field goals in the contest.
Offensively, Ballard shot efficiently, connecting on 47.7 percent from the field and an impressive 50 percent from three-point range. Freshman Kaitlyn Dunn led all scorers with 14 points, knocking down four three-pointers. Sophomore Kaylor Johnson added 10 points, while Maci Harder contributed nine. Freshmen Kinsey Calvert and Alea Kinzenbaw each chipped in six points, with Calvert shooting a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc.
Ballard's depth was on full display, as 11 players recorded points or assists and the Bombers totaled 13 assists on 21 made field goals. Brooklyn Shoen provided a strong all-around effort with five rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
With the win, Ballard improves to 4–10 overall and 3–6 in Raccoon River Conference play.
The Bombers return to action Tuesday, January 20, when they host Boone in the Hangar for a 6:00 PM RRC contest.
