Bombers Fall to #6 Mustangs in Regional Semifinal
#6 Dallas Center-Grimes Defeats Ballard 51-41
GRIMES – The Ballard womens' basketball team saw its season come to an end on Saturday night, falling 51-41 to sixth-ranked Dallas Center-Grimes in the Class 4A regional semifinal. Despite a valiant effort, the Bombers were unable to overcome an early deficit against the home team.
Dallas Center-Grimes set the tone early, jumping out to an 18-10 lead after the first quarter. The Bombers struggled to find its offensive rhythm in the first half, managing just 20 points at the break while the Mustangs extended their advantage to 14 points.
However, the Bombers battled back in the third quarter, outscoring DCG 14-11 to cut the deficit to 11 heading into the final frame. Despite their defensive effort holding the Mustangs to just six fourth-quarter points, Ballard was unable to complete the comeback.
Senior Raegan Loewe put on an impressive performance in her final game, leading all scorers with 21 points on 8-of-15 shooting. She connected on two three-pointers and went 3-of-4 from the free-throw line while also contributing three rebounds and two steals.
Freshman Kaylor Johnson made an impact on the boards, grabbing a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with five points. Jada Lande and Maci Harder each added five points for the Bombers, while Raya Miller chipped in three.
With the loss, Ballard finishes the season with a 7-16 overall record, including a 5-11 mark in conference play.
