Bombers Rally Past Tigers for Victory
Ballard Defeats Gilbert 43-40
The Ballard women's basketball team secured a hard-fought 43-40 victory over Gilbert on Tuesday night, improving their record to 5-13 overall and 4-10 in conference play.
Despite a slow start that saw them trailing 15-6 after the first quarter, the Bombers clawed their way back into the game with strong defensive efforts and clutch free-throw shooting. Ballard outscored Gilbert in the final three quarters, including a crucial 15-11 fourth quarter to seal the win.
Raegan Loewe and Kaylor Johnson were key contributors at the free-throw line, with Loewe going 2-for-4 and Johnson hitting both of her attempts. Olivia Wacha also added a free throw to help the Bombers maintain their late-game lead.
Defensively, Ballard held Gilbert to just five points in the second quarter, setting the stage for a second-half comeback. The Bombers' ability to limit Gilbert's scoring opportunities and capitalize on their own possessions proved to be the difference.
With this win, Ballard looks ahead to their next matchup on Friday, February 7, when they travel to face Carroll at 6:00 PM.
