Ranked Mustangs Defeat Bombers In Opener
#10 Dallas Center-Grimes Defeats Ballard 67-35
The Ballard women's basketball team faced a tough challenge on the road, falling 67-35 to the #10 Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs on Friday night. Despite the loss, the Bombers showed resilience, with senior leader Raegan Loewe delivering a standout performance.
Loewe led Ballard offensively, scoring 23 points on 7-of-24 shooting, including an impressive 6-of-13 from beyond the arc. She also contributed 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Freshman Maci Harder provided a spark off the bench, scoring 6 points on 2-of-3 shooting from three-point range. Kaylor Johnson battled on the boards, pulling down a team-high 9 rebounds.
The Bombers started the game with a competitive first half, trailing 26-17 at halftime. However, Dallas Center-Grimes took control in the third quarter, outscoring the Bombers 23-13 and solidifying their lead. The Mustangs' balanced scoring attack and strong defense proved too much for the Bombers to overcome.
As a team, the Bombers shot 27.5% from the field, including 40.0% from three-point range. They showed improvement at the free-throw line, hitting 62.5% of their attempts. On the boards, Ballard recorded 29 rebounds, with contributions from multiple players.
The Bombers will aim to bounce back when they return to action on Tuesday, November 26, hosting Clear Lake at 6:00 PM.
