Bombers Pick Up Win; Milestone Reached
Ballard Defeats Roland-Story 10-0
Ballard's softball team delivered a commanding 10-0 victory over Roland-Story on Tuesday night at Gary Telford Field. The Bombers' offense was unstoppable, highlighted by senior Maggie Mortensen, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored, and an RBI. Fellow senior Kayci Rigby also shined, contributing a home run and three RBIs. Freshman Madeline Schonhorst had a perfect night at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double and scoring twice. Senior Brooklyn Baumgardner added two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs, fueling the Bombers' relentless attack.
On the mound, Baumgardner was equally impressive, pitching three shutout innings, allowing just one hit, and striking out five to record her 500th career strikeout. Senior Avery Phillips closed out the game, pitching three scoreless innings with four strikeouts.
With this win, the Bombers improve to 11-19 (7-9) on the season.
The Bombers will be back in action on Thursday, July 11, as they travel to Newton for the regional quarterfinals. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 PM.
