Comments From Head Coach Scott Barth:
"The boys ended the season on a good note. Gage Long and Austin Shoen went 1-2 for us placing 28th and 32nd overall and breaking the 18 minute barrier once again. Seth Pencook continued his late season push in placing 38th in a time of 18:09, his PR. Jack Chism wrapped up his senior season with a time of 18:39. Chase Brekke closed out our scoring running an 18:56. Wyatt Borg ran a really good race running his PR time of 19:14. Ben Ward closed out his career, filling in for Trent Payne who was ill, in running his season best time of 19:28.
Although we are somewhat disappointed with an 8th place finish, we knew breaking into the top 3 in the meet would be a tough job with all teams being ranked in the top 10 of the state. In looking at our times and the progress that we have made in this season, I am VERY happy and proud of these guys.
Gage, Jack, Ben and Wyatt are three really awesome kids and they will be missed. They set the tone at practices this season and really got this team moving in the right direction. We cut our times a lot up and down our line-up this season. We grew mentally tougher and I started seeing more attention to details at practices and meets. We are on the right track. Gage and Jack have been varsity runners for us for 4 years - they will be especially missed. They are two extraordinary guys on and off the course.
We will be returning quite a few solid runners including returning varsity runners in Austin Shoen, Seth Pencook, Chase Brekke and Trent Payne. We also return several other key underclassmen in Ian Godbold, Kale Zimmerman, and Owen Greco. With added summer mles and weight training throughout, we can really make some noise next season. I am excited to see their continued growth."
The Bombers have finished their season.
