Comments From Head Coach Scott Barth:
"A majority of our varsity boys did the two day turnaround that Shewaye, Ava, and Kate did on the girl's side. They performed pretty well considering. Austin Shoen finished 14th overall in a season best time of 18:09. Gage Long came in close at hand with his 19th place finish in his season PR of 18:17. Jack Chism showed the signs of the short turnaround but ran admirably finishing 32nd in 19:04. Seth Pencook and Chase Brekke closed out our scoring placing 38th and 39th in times of 19:16 and 19:19. Trent Payne continued showing improvement coming off injury placing 43rd and Ian Godbold stepped into varsity competition, in the absence of Wyatt Borg, placing 56th. Owen Greco and Kale Zimmerman continue to improve as freshman and make a push for varsity spots.
This was a pretty good race for us all things considered. We were ready to compete and gave a solid effort up and down the line-up. This makes 4 meets for them in a twelve day stretch which is tough. We are in crunch time for the guys and as coaches we felt pushing the guys to compete those four times would ultimately, with more rest in-between going forward, make us a better and more competitive team in the final 3rd of the season. I am very happy with what I am seeing in practices and meets. They are competing harder and with more mental toughness. Heading forward we only have 1 meet a week for the next 2.5 weeks and that will do wonders to freshen up their legs in-between races and I would predict a good reduction in times. I know the guys have personal and team goals in their minds and I think they will be making a good push for them."
The Bombers are back in action on Monday, October 5 when they compete at the Norwalk Invitational. The meet will feature the JV/V and will start at 4:50 PM.
