Bomber Track Takes on Elite Field at Drake Relays

Competing on one of the biggest stages in high school track and field, the Ballard men's track team turned in a strong showing at the Drake Relays, testing themselves against Iowa's elite and gaining valuable championship-level experience.
Junior Jace Ortner represented the Bombers in the 400-meter dash, delivering a solid performance in a loaded field. Ortner clocked a time of 49.40 seconds to place eighth overall, finishing second in his heat.
In the 110-meter hurdles, senior Stetson Kane battled through a deep and fast field. Kane posted a time of 15.03 seconds, placing 28th overall.
Ballard also qualified in the highly competitive 4x100-meter relay, where the team of Liam Hurst, Aidan Wilson, Jace Ortner, and Stetson Kane took to the track against one of the deepest sprint fields in the state. The Bombers ran a time of 43.97 seconds, finishing 70th overall.
While the results may not yet reflect podium finishes, the Bombers' presence at the Drake Relays underscores the program's continued growth and competitiveness. With postseason meets on the horizon, Ballard's athletes gained invaluable experience that will translate as they pursue peak performances when it matters most.
