Ballard Scores 240 Team Points
The Ballard men's track and field team delivered a strong and well-rounded performance Tuesday night at the Nevada Invitational, finishing tied for 5th place in a competitive Class A field with 240 team points.
Competing against some of the top programs in central Iowa, Ballard showcased both emerging young talent and experienced leadership, highlighted by multiple event championships and podium finishes.
Leading the way for the Bombers was a dominant effort in the sprint relays. Ballard captured the Class A varsity 800 sprint medley title with a time of 1:42.55. The quartet of Nolan Fuller, Parker Ihle, Dylan Kruger, and Tate Leland combined for an impressive run, setting the tone early in the meet.
Ballard continued its relay success in the shuttle hurdle event, where the team of Chase Ihle, Aidan Wilson, Curtis Hinzman, and Stetson Kane claimed another gold medal in 1:01.67. The performance reinforced Ballard's strength in the hurdle events, which proved to be a major point contributor on the night.
Individually, the Bombers dominated the 110-meter hurdles, finishing first and second. Senior Stetson Kane led the charge with a winning time of 15.33, followed closely by Curtis Hinzman in second at 15.50. The 1-2 finish provided a significant boost in the team standings and highlighted Ballard's depth in the event.
Ballard also found success in the sprints, as Jace Ortner sprinted to a victory in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.07. Teammate Tate Leland added to the scoring with an 11th-place finish, while Ortner also contributed in the 100-meter dash with a strong 6th-place finish (11.37).
In the field events, freshman Nolan Fuller continued his standout meet by placing 3rd in the long jump (19-11), showing his versatility as both a jumper and relay contributor. In the throws, Tyson Pingel led the way with an 8th-place finish in discus, while Carter Sparks added points in both discus and shot put.
Distance events saw solid contributions as well. Evan Newman scored in both the 3200-meter run (9th) and the 1600-meter run (14th), while the 4x800 relay team of Declan O'Brien, Drew Kruger, Nash Wunder, and Axton Campbell placed 5th.
Ballard's 4x400 relay team capped off the night with a strong 4th-place finish (3:56.34), with Axton Campbell, Dylan Kruger, Declan O'Brien, and Drew Kruger closing the meet on a high note.

-
Jude Jones placing 3rd in the 400-meter dash (55.86)

The 4x200 relay team finishing 6th
-
The distance medley relay adding a 7th-place finish
Overall, the Bombers displayed impressive balance across sprints, hurdles, relays, and field events, a key factor in their top-five finish.
