Men's Track Captures Team Title and Sets School Record
Ballard Scores 136 Team Points
The Ballard men's track team captured the team title at the North Polk Comet Relays on Monday night, powered by season-best times and a record-breaking relay performance.
The highlight of the night came in the shuttle hurdle relay, where the team of Chase Ihle, Kiir Wol, Curtis Hinzman, and Stetson Kane broke the school record with a time of 59.79 seconds.
Ballard athletes recorded seven personal records and five relay teams posted their fastest times of the season. Sophomore Jace Ortner continued his standout campaign, finishing runner-up in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.20 and placing fourth in the 200-meter dash at 22.78. He competed against strong sprinters from Ankeny, Johnston, and North Polk.
The Bomber relay teams excelled across the board. The 4x200 relay team posted a season-best time of 1:45.07, and strong performances in the 4x400 and distance medley highlighted Ballard's balance in both sprints and distance events.
In the field events, Tyson Pingel led the Bomber throwers with a mark of 36'7" in the shot put. Jonah Stagg and Jonah Grzywacz both topped 95 feet in the discus.
The Bombers are back in action on Thursday - May 1 when they travel to Roland-Story. The meet will start at 5:30 PM.
