Men's Track Battles Tough Field at South Hardin
Ballard Scores 49 Team Points
Eldora, Iowa — The Ballard men's track and field team competed hard Friday night at the South Hardin Co-Ed meet, finishing sixth overall against a strong field of competition.
Ballard earned 49 team points, placing behind Iowa Falls-Alden, South Hardin, Hudson, Colo-Nesco, and Gladbrook-Reinbeck. Iowa Falls-Alden dominated the meet with 195.5 points.
Bright Spots for Ballard
One of the biggest highlights for the Bombers came in the 110-meter hurdles, where Stetson Kane and Chase Ihle delivered a powerful one-two punch. Kane claimed the victory in 15.29 seconds, while Ihle was right behind him at 15.35, scoring critical points for Ballard.
In the sprint medley relay, Ballard's varsity team of Bradyn Snyder, Blake Brendeland, Lewis Harms, and Aidan Wilson crossed the finish line in 1:51.80, securing a sixth-place finish and adding three points to the team total.
The Bombers also turned in a strong effort in the distance medley relay. The team of Callen Stenberg, Leif Jorgensen, Ethan Rouse, and Caleb Hill clocked a time of 4:39.58 to finish sixth in the varsity division, and the junior varsity squad of Curtis Hinzman, Lewis Harms, Kanen DeYoung, and Landon Lange placed fourth in their race.
In the 4x200-meter relay, Ballard's team of Lewis Harms, Kanen DeYoung, Jack Plucar, and Jackson Hunt placed second in their heat with a time of 1:50.16, adding two points to the Bombers' total.
Individually, Caleb Hill ran a strong 800 meters, finishing ninth overall in 2:32.26 and picking up a point for Ballard. Freshman Leif Jorgensen also showed promise in the 100-meter dash, placing second in his junior varsity heat.
Looking Ahead
Ballard will look to continue its growth when they return to action on Tuesday - April 29 when they travel to North Polk. The meet will start at 4:30 PM.
