The Ballard men's track team showcased their talent and determination at the South Hardin Relays on Friday, earning an impressive second place in team points.
Eli Rouse delivered a standout performance, securing first place and setting a personal record in the open 200 with an impressive time of 22.76 seconds. Max Davidson displayed his versatility and skill by claiming double gold in both the 3200 and 1600-meter events, achieving a season best in the 3200 with a time of 11:02.34. Graden Hermann demonstrated his strength by finishing 2nd in the 3200 and 3rd in the 1600.
In field events, Jackson Wacha achieved a personal record in shot put with a throw of 43 feet and 3 inches. Additionally, Chase Ihle showed his speed and agility, earning 3rd place in the 110 high hurdles with a personal record time of 14.9 seconds.
Comments From Men's Head Coach Darren Herrold:
"With the conditions our athletes faced Friday evening at South Hardin, the coaches couldn't be more pleased with our athletes. Sustained winds sound 20mph and a windchill in the 20's tested both the physical and mental stamina of our team. Our athletes never complained and competed at 100% to support each other and the Ballard team.
In spite of the conditions, our distance runners of Max Davidson and Graden Hermann had an outstanding evening in both the 3200 and the 1600. Both continue to improve and push each other in practice and at meets. Eli Rouse was also able to lean out-literally-a win and PR in the 200 meter dash. All of our individuals and relays are improving and competing at just the right time of year. We have two more regular season meets prior to conference and state qualifying, and our athletes are willing and eager to compete every day. The coaches couldn't be happier with the current position and attitude of our team."
