Tennis Dominates Home Triangular Against Urbandale and Grinnell
Ballard Defeats Urbandale and Grinnell
HUXLEY, IA -- The Ballard men's tennis team delivered a commanding performance on their home courts Monday afternoon, picking up two impressive wins in a triangular against Urbandale and Grinnell. The Bombers cruised past Urbandale 10-1 and led Grinnell 8-0 before the match was called early due to weather.
Against Urbandale, Ballard swept the top three singles positions with emphatic wins from Emmett Miller (8-0), Easton Ersland (8-0), and Isaiah Zeigler (8-5). The Bombers continued their strong play in doubles, capturing four out of five matchups. The No. 1 duo of Miller and Zeigler handled business with an 8-2 win, while the teams of Ersland/Olsan, Hilleman/Preston, and Ross/Marks each picked up victories to seal the dominant team result.
In the abbreviated match against Grinnell, Ballard showed no signs of slowing down, sweeping all six singles matches. Miller, Zeigler, Ersland, Rex Olsan, Seth Hilleman, and Eli Preston each earned straight-set wins, allowing the Bombers to build an 8-0 lead before weather forced the meet to end early.
In doubles play against Grinnell, the Bombers again looked sharp. The top duo of Zeigler and Miller won 7-1, and the remaining Ballard teams rolled to victory, including an 8-1 win for Ersland and Olsan.
Ballard improves to 4-1 on the season and will be back in action Monday, April 21, at the Johnston Triangular.
