Bomber Golf Punches District Ticket at Osky Sectional
Ballard Shoots A 304
The Ballard men's golf team continued its strong postseason run Monday, earning a second-place finish at the Class 3A sectional tournament at Edmundson Golf Course in Oskaloosa and advancing to next week's district meet.
Ballard shot a team score of 304, finishing just behind team champion North Polk (301) in a tightly contested field. Newton placed third with a 318, followed by Grinnell (319) and Mid-Prairie (321).
Sophomore Jamin Colvin led the way for the Bombers with a spectacular round of 68, capturing individual medalist honors by two strokes over Newton's Jackson Price. Colvin's round was the lowest score of the day and helped pace Ballard throughout the tournament.
The Bombers also received a strong performance from freshman Jordan Domino, who fired a 75 to finish tied for fourth overall. Junior Parker Domino added a 77, good for a top-10 finish, giving Ballard three golfers inside the top 10 individually.
Senior Drake Hosteng contributed an 84, while junior Riley Dingel carded an 86 and junior Alex Weeks finished with an 87 as Ballard showcased its depth across the lineup.
North Polk was led by Ty Haisman's 72 along with top-10 rounds from Maddox Hunter, Myles Matzen, and Chase Krings to narrowly edge the Bombers for the team title.
Despite finishing three strokes back of the Comets, Ballard comfortably secured one of the advancement spots and will now compete at the district tournament Monday in Pella with a chance to qualify for the state tournament.
