Six Bombers Recognized By Conference Coaches
Following a historic season that culminated in a state championship run, the Ballard Bombers were heavily represented on the Raccoon River Conference Men's Basketball All-Conference Team, placing multiple players across the first team, second team, and honorable mention selections.
Leading the way for Ballard were junior guards Evan Abbott and Parker Miller and senior guard Jude Gibson, who each earned First Team All-Conference honors. Abbott and Gibson were also unanimous selections, highlighting the respect both players earned from conference coaches throughout the season.
Abbott put together one of the most dominant offensive seasons in the conference. The junior poured in 476 points, averaging nearly 19 points per game while shooting 54.2 percent from the field and 37.9 percent from three-point range. Abbott also contributed 100 rebounds, 61 assists, and 49 steals, showcasing his all-around impact on both ends of the floor.
Gibson, the Bombers' senior floor general, orchestrated the offense while delivering big scoring numbers of his own. Gibson finished the season with 410 points and a team-high 125 assists, while shooting 51.9 percent from the field and 40.9 percent from beyond the arc. His 88 steals also led the team and demonstrated his defensive presence at the top of Ballard's pressure defense.
Miller provided a steady inside-outside presence for the Bombers and rounded out Ballard's trio on the first team. The junior forward scored 309 points on 54.8 percent shooting and added 149 rebounds and 87 assists, making him one of the most versatile players in the league.
Ballard senior Easton Ersland earned Second Team All-Conference honors after a strong final season. The senior recorded 229 points and 113 rebounds while serving as a defensive anchor with 33 blocked shots, one of the top marks in the conference.
Two more Bombers were recognized with Honorable Mention All-Conference selections. Senior Mojoe Nybong averaged efficient scoring off the bench, shooting 47.7 percent from the field and 37.3 percent from three-point range while totaling 165 points and 73 rebounds. Fellow senior Dillon Shoen added 97 points and 30 rebounds, providing toughness and depth in the post throughout the season.
