Bombers Battle Through Weather To Pick Up District Win
Balanced Attack Defeats Pesky Bluejay Team
The Ballard football team used a balanced attack of rushing and passing to put away the Perry Bluejays 2-1 (0-1) late in route to their first district victory of the season.
The Bomber's quarterback, Max Stoltz, was 9-15 with 177 yards and two touchdowns. Sophomore Reece Huen caught three of those balls for 127 yards and two touchdowns. Senior Austin Edwards was slowed up by the Bluejay defense catching 3 passes for 31 yards.
The Bombers were led on the ground by junior Hunter Wright. Wright rushed 19 times for 85 yards and two touchdowns. Skyler Noftsger, Reece Huen, and Gavin Hobbs also chipped in 25+ yards a piece to balance out the rushing game.
Defensively, senior Seth Moore led the Bombers with 12 tackles, 3 resulting in loses. Senior Noah Rosing had an interception and junior Ben Lee recovered a Bluejay fumble.
The Bombers 3-0 (1-0) are back in action on Friday - September 16 as they travel to Dallas Center-Grimes to do battle with the Mustangs. The Mustangs come in with a record of 2-1 (1-0) with their only loss coming to Pella in week #2. The freshman-sophomore game will kick off at 4:45 PM and the varsity will kick off at 7:30 PM.
